It is important for aspiring LGV drivers to thoroughly understand the rules and regulations of the UK Highway Code and demonstrate their ability to anticipate and respond to potential hazards on the road. About the Hazard Perception Test The Hazard Perception Test, as the name suggests, is designed to test your ability to identify hazards that are upcoming on the road and does this through a video-based system which requires you to click the mouse whenever you notice a hazard. Before taking your practical test, you need to pass both parts of the LGV theory test. Both of these parts are taken as on-screen tests.
Various resources, including books, online materials, and mobile applications, are available to help candidates familiarize themselves with the test format and content. The LGV theory test module, has two parts: a multiple-choice part, and a hazard perception part. If you gather any more than 15 driving faults, also known as minors, you will be unsuccessful. It works differently for the practical test. For example, in the Multiple choice theory test you have to achieve at least 85/100. Preparing for the LGV theory test involves studying the official Highway Code, relevant LGV-specific publications, and practicing with mock tests and hazard perception videos. Unlike the LGV theory tests (Multiple choice, Hazard perception and CPC case study) there is no minimum pass mark. Upon successful completion, they can proceed to the practical driving test, which assesses their ability to operate an LGV safely and efficiently in real-world conditions. To pass the LGV theory test, candidates must achieve a minimum score in each section. The faster a candidate reacts to a hazard, the higher the score they will receive.

Candidates are shown a series of video clips depicting various driving scenarios, and they must identify and click on developing hazards as they appear. theory tests by 1.9 percentage points to 64.8 for the multiple-choice test and 2.0 percentage points to 81.8 for the hazard perception test (Figure 10). The hazard perception section of the LGV theory test evaluates the candidate's ability to identify and respond to potential hazards on the road.
